FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to season 2021 and to a new look Maggie Newsletter!

I am very excited to welcome everyone back to North Freo after a challenging 2020. I firstly, would like to thank Tony Misich for his years of dedication and service to the Club. We wouldn't be where we are now without Tony's leadership and constant dedication. Thank you to our outgoing Patron - Ross McCaffrey - for his 20 years service too. He has been an integral part of the Club doing most of his work behind the scenes. To the 2020 Board, well done on a difficult 2020. The Centenary Year was celebrated in style! Thank you Ross, Tony and the 2020 Board.

2021, the Club’s 101st year, is going to be a defining year in North Freo’s history.

We are proud to announce the addition of the very first Women’s team at North Fremantle - coached by Jordan Handcock (NFFC 2019-2020 BJ Colts Coach) and Assistant Coach Simone Anderson. The girls are a refreshing addition to the Club. The enthusiasm and excitement they bring is incredible to witness and even better to be apart of. This weekend on Saturday, the Women will run out for the first time as a team representing North Fremantle at an AFLX competition at Langley Park in which the results will be used to determine the grade they will be playing. All Maggie's supporters are welcome - it kicks off at 10am.

We welcome back Shane Woewodin to the Head Coaching role in 2021 with a very experienced team of Assistant Coaches – Brett Fannon and Dan Prigmore. The squad is raring to go and pre-season has started very strong. Only a few weeks until the first scratch match against some quality opposition – Curtin Uni Wesley – followed the week after with the Kai Fella Cup (NFFC vs CBC).

Adam Maskos has unfinished business in the 3’s narrowly coming in second place in the 2020 C5 League Grand Final. The Boys are back with unprecedented determination to finish the job in 2021!

The Club welcomes 4 new coaches this year:

Reserves – Travis Wohlsein
This is Trav’s second run at North after being an Assistant Coach in 2017-2018. He has a wealth of experience in both playing and coaching and will be a very valuable asset to the team in 2021.

C5 Reserves (4’s) – Tim Maher
Tim is the ultimate Clubman. A huge supporter of the lower grades and was the 3’s Runner in 2021. Tim has stepped up to a challenge this year with taking on the 4’s.

Phil Scott Colts – Josh Clayton
A familiar face at North Fremantle, Clayto has taken on the lead role of coaching the Colts with 2 very qualified Assistant Coaches – Sam Mainwaring and Sam Buhagair. A massive task in 2021 with a young side. It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm the lads are bringing to the Club – both on and off the field!

Brett Jones Colts – Tom Burfoot
With unlimited stamina and enthusiasm of a man in his early 20s, Burf has joined the coaching team in 2021. A refreshing injection of youth in the coaching panel, Burf will lead his team to many successes in his career.

We have new and returning Board members who bring to the table a diverse background of skills, experience and knowledge. I am excited with what this team will be able to achieve in 2021 and beyond.

We value and widely acknowledge the important contribution and support our Club Partners and Sponsors give to our Club. We have an ever increasing and invaluable support behind the Club - without you we wouldn't be able to acheive the successes we have all enjoyed. Welcome back for season 2021!

Here's to a successful 2021!
