League turn tables in powerhouse display!!

Published Wed 07 Aug 2019

The League turned on another masterful display of football, turning the tables on TA’s, downing them by over six goals! A well-deserved win after some of the poor sportsmanship which underlined their last match. Regardless, North came out to play with only one goal in mind: VICTORY! And they did it in style and intensity!! The first quarter was tight with TA’s bouncing out of the block to establish a small lead. North retaliated to regain control, holding a handy lead at half time. The second half belonged to North! We won on the ball; at the stoppages and genuine hardness across the field, to run out comfortable winners! This leaves North 3 games and percentage clear of teams below them and also has the team looking to get higher. A great game and result! North 15.7- (97) – Trinity Aquinas 9.8 – (62).

The A Reserves also put on a good display of football against an equally placed TA’s. It was always going to be a tough encounter and it proved just that. Even with a few omissions, the lads lifted to the cause and fought throughout. Scores were tight all day, with TA’s booting their final goal to snatch a lead, second before the final siren. But TA;s indiscipline caught them out again, resulting in a 50metre penalty to North. The opportunity was accepted and North kicked the final goal of the day in a real thriller, making it a drawn game! A great comeback! North 8.9 (57) Tas 8.9 (57)

The scene was set for our day at home with the Phil Scott Colts switching on from the outset, knowing a loss could jeopardise finals, with a stream of teams below them on same points. The lads lifted and turned on their best display of football for the year. Their intent and intensity complimented their ball usage, win at stoppages and never shying from a challenge. It was a terrific display of hard work and solid skills and a comfortable win and staying in the hunt for finals! North 10.5 (65) – TA’s 7.4 (46)

The only away team to record a victory was the D1 League, against Curtin Uni – Wembley. A win was important as it would consolidate Fourth position and finals opportunity. The team played with great team spirit and hunger for a win. Nothing was shirked and every challenge was met in a hard-fought match where score was pretty close all day. However, North prevailed and drew away with a much deserves win. North 6.3 (39) Wesley Uni – Curtin 5.6 (36)

Both the D1 Reserves and Brett jones Colts hard games  and were just unable to match their opponents.
