NFAFC Mourns the Death of Brian ‘Bluey’ Lambert

Published Sun 19 Feb 2017

Another page turned in the great history of the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club with the announcement of the death of Brian ‘Bluey’ Lambert, regarded by many as the greatest amateur footballer of all time. Lambert was a North Fremantle champion after moving to our club in the 1960s when Cockburn folded and he, along with other great players and officials, came to North. ‘Bluey’ Lambert reached the pinnacle in Australian amateur football and has his name on the WAAFL’s Hall of Champions’ Honour Board. A three-times All-Australian (the representative team named after an interstate carnival), Lambert captained WA and three times won the fairest and best in the competition’s A Grade season. A Life Member of the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club, ‘Bluey’ Lambert brought great distinction to our club and he will be remembered whenever people get together and talk of our great football champions. At his funeral, the reception area overflowed with people paying their respects to a great footballer, family man, and West Australian. Many former North champions turned up to pay their respects, among them Jack Yuille, Barry Woodhead, Keith Bridle, Greg Skinner, Gordon Dickson, Des Carter and his wife, plus many others. The club sends its sincere condolences to the Lambert family. RIP ‘Bluey’.
