It certainly was a massive day at the Gil with four North Freo Finals and a huge crowd in attendance.  Many thanks to all our supporters!!  Of the four finals, North won two and lost two.  However because of their finish n the top five, all teams are still in the finals for next week! Winners on Saturday were the League and Brett Jones Colts.  However the Reserves and Drew Banfield Colts live to fight another day! 

Without question the outstanding match of the day was the League clash between North and Wanneroo.  It was a hard and tough encounter - certainly not for the faint hearted.  Score remained close all day and both sides fought with desire and passion.  However, North did not give any quarter throughout the day!  The lads dug in and were fierce at the ball and opposition, with one thing in mind - Victory!  Wanneroo never relented either and the game was up for grabs in the final quarter.  The large North supporter contingent was in awe of our lads and their efforts, sensing something special was happening and they were not let down.  The league pushed on to take the lead with only minutes to spare.  Wanneroo fought hard to move the ball into their froward line, but cool heads by North managed the critical situation and controlled the ball until the final siren rang, winning by a solitary point, much to the total euphoria by our supporters.  This was a great match and both sides need to be congratulated!  It was an exhilarating moment for our players who gave so much and maintained their commitment and mental toughness throughout.  A well deserves win which sets us up well for next week!

The Brett Jones Colts kicked off their day with perhaps their best win of the year, against Swan Athletic.  They have come a long way!  Their ball movement, skills and enthusiasm as a team was infectious and certainly helped over power a good opposition team.  The lads just kept steam rolling forward all day and ultimately won by a very comfortable margin:  12.8 (80) to 5.2 (32). 

Unfortunately losses were suffered by both the Reserves (17 pts) and Drew Banfield Colts (48pts).  The good news is they both still have the opportunity to turn this around next week!  Good luck boys!!
