PRESIDENTS REPORT: Round Six

Published Sun 21 May 2017

Round six saw North win four out of five games, with the Drew Banfield Colts having a bye.  The B's visited Maddington at Harmony Park with positive outcomes.  It was a tough tussle between the two League teams, with nothing much in it for the entire game.  Maddington certainly have some very good footballers and really challenged our lads throughout, hitting the font towards the end of the final quarter.  However, North steadied and rose to the occasion by snatching back the lead in the final minute, thanks to a wonderful snap by our half back flanker.  It was a great win: resolute and determined by our lads which keeps North around the top of the ladder.; 9.10 (64) to 8.11 (59).  Well don lads!  In contrast, the B Reserves were rarely challenged and continued their powerful display, overrunning a less skilled Maddington:  14.9 (93) to 4.1 (25).  Great result lads!

The D2's were at home against Kingsley, with the D2 Reserves (Fourths) starting the day off in style in a domineering display of good football.  It was a step into the past, a Minno day with 12 goals coming off his own boot!  Great to see - and a terrific team effort!  Well done!  The D2 League (Thirds) knew they were in for a tough day, playing the second ranked side and it proved just that!  From the outset Kingsley challenged North and the lead changed several times throughout the game.  However, the lads stuck to their plans and started to draw away in the final quarter, winning: 12.5 (77) to 7.3 (45). It was a terrific win against a worthy opposition.  Well done lads!

The final game of Round Six was under lights and saw our Brett Jones Colts came up against the top side, University, who have smashed other sides to the tune on 15 goals and more.  However, this was not about to happen again as our lads knuckled down to the challenge and fought desperately hard all game.  Being the top team Uni were good, but North continued to challenge in a very good whole team performance.  At the end of the day the scoreboard prevailed in Uni's favour: 5.9 (39) to North's 2.3 (15).  A great effort to keep the margin around four goals!  The BJC lads just keep on improving!!!

Many thanks to all those who came back to the club for awards, to celebrate and also to enjoy Sammy's delicious meals and refreshments!  Greta stuff!  Looking forward to Round 7!
