PRESIDENTS REPORT: Round Ten

Published Sat 17 Jun 2017

Another big weekend for North with 6 out of 6 wins, leaving all senior sides and DBC Colts on top of  respective ladders, plus consolidation by BJC Colts in top five!! This is a huge effort by the Club and deserves HUGE supporter turnout to share in North emerging as a force in football again!  Let's see a HUGE 'Maggie Army' turnout next Saturday with the League taking on Swan Athletic! Join us at the awards presentations!!

Our League, Reserves and Drew Banfield Colts traveled to Hamersley  Carine and all came away victorious.  The League team showed their superiority from the outset and were in control for the entire game.  Their skills, play and desire were on show again as they pushed to increase their lead to 50 points and more as the game wore on.  It really was a polished performance and could have been more complete had the lads not taken the 'foot off the pedal' towards the end of the game.  This enabled their opponents to kick a few goals, but the game was over before then.  North ran out comfortable winners: 14:12 (96) to 8.3 (51).  Straighter goal kicking could have sealed the game even earlier. However lads, a great win which leaves them two games clear at the top!  In contrast the Reserves fought out a close finish against a hard working Hamersley Carine team.  The outcome was perhaps more flattering for the opponents even though North seemed in control most of the day.  While North showed  very good passages of play throughout the game, they also fell away at times and put pressure on themselves,  However, as pundits claim, good teams seem to find ways of winning, and North did prevail in the end to remain on top of the ladder:  8.4 (52) to 7.8 (50).

The Drew Banfield Colts had set the tone of the day with and an awesome display of good football against a lower ranked opponent.  The further the game progressed, the further North went ahead.  In a strong team performance the lads ran out comfortable winners, and they resume their top of the ladder position:  19.11 (125) to 2.4 (16).  North proved better skilled, drilled and  more determined for victory!  Well done lads!

Home games this week included a great win by the Brett Jones Colts against a higher ranked Swan Athletic!  Despite losing a few players promoted to the DBC team, the lads set their minds and determination to come out winners! This was evident from the outset as the lads committed to the ball, their team mates and a win!  There is a healthy bond amongst the team which has developed greater self belief and confidence as a winning team!  North met every challenge and gradually took control of a very good and tight game, ultimately running out deserved winners:  9.12 (66) to 6.3 (39).  With greater accuracy in front of goals the game could have been put to rest much earlier!  But a tremendous effort lads, which helps cement fifth spot!!  Keep it up!

The D2 Thirds and Fourths hosted Mt Lawley in two very different encounters.  For the Fourths it was a salivating top of the table clash and a game not for the faint hearted!  The physicality and hard contests were on display from the outset, as the much bigger and taller Mt Lawley experienced players showed their dominance, capturing almost every high kick lobbed to them, while a faster and well drilled North team was able to sweep the ball around and create opportunities.  For spectators this was an enthralling contest;  goal for goal and bump for bump. In the end North proved more steady and were able to score when needed, which helped them maintain their lead in the game, running out winners: 9.5 (59) to 7.5 (47), plus taking back their position at the top of the table!!  Terrific effort boys!! Contrastingly, the Threes proved far too good for the lower placed Mt Lawley side.  In a very one sided affair, North took control from the outset and just continued to expand their lead as the game progressed. Our lads were too skilled, too fast and better drilled in their game, ultimately running out clear winners: 14.16 (100) to 1.0 (6).  The win keeps them clear on top of the ladder with added percentage boost!  Well done boys!
